Final 4/8 Championships Guidelines

BCJPBL Guidelines

1. At the completion of league play, the top 8 teams will advance to the Final 8 JPBL Championships; moves to the Island or Kelowna every 3rd year.

2. In the event of a tie in the standings, standings will be determined by applying the league standing tie breaking criteria; there will be a 9 inning playoff game to break a 8th spot tie if teams are still tied after the head to head comparison.

3. On final day the first game will be a playoff between teams tied for 2nd in a pool and then followed by the cross over games and the championship game;

4. No consolation game in this series.

2. In the event of a tie in the standings, standings will be determined by applying the league standing tie breaking criteria; there will be a playoff game to break a 8th spot tie if teams are still tied after the head to head comparison.

3. Final 8 play downs (best out of 3 series at park of higher seed) Visiting team will be the home team in the second game of the series only.

4. Final 4 Championship Series (Round robin, then 1 plays 2 for championship, no team will be eliminated as a result of criteria)

5. On final day the first game will be a playoff between teams tied for 2nd in pool if necessary and then followed by the championship game.

6. No consolation game in this series.

Final League Standing - Tie Breaking Criteria

In the event that after the completion of league play there is a tie in the standings between teams, the following criteria will be used for seeding and to break the tie.

 ~ Compare the head to head record of teams

~ If more than two teams are tied, one team will be eliminated by criteria using the criteria below.

~ Compare the record of teams against the team in first place, then in second place, then in third place,…. until the tie is broken

~ If two teams are tied for 8th place in the standings after head to head comparison, a nine (9) play-off game will be held at a mutual agreed upon site that considers cost, time, and travel; the EMC will make the final decision if teams are unable to agree upon the site.

~ Travel costs for this game will be the responsibility of the teams.
