The 2009 board of directors looks forward to the upcoming season with the addition of two new teams and welcomes the Vancouver Cannons to the premier division and Okanagan College to the college division. The premier division (PBL) will now provide competition for twelve (12) teams and the college division (CCBC) will be made up of six (6) teams. The junior premier division (JPBL) will remain at ten (10) teams. The Premier Baseball Association will now be the umbrella organization for twenty-eight (28) teams. The board would also like to welcome newly appointed board members Jeff Zielstra, Eddy Lang, David Gautier (re-elected), Bill Green (re-elected) and Rick Elstone (re-elected). These members will join Debbie LeBlanc, Don Cowan, Murray Gage- Cole, Bob Burkmar, Ted Hotzak (president) and Clyde Inouye (past president/executive director) to form the 2009 board of directors. Board positions are for a two (2) year term and the president’s position is for a four (4) year term. The board of directors looks forward to another exciting and competitive season of baseball. Many thanks to parents, friends, families, media personnel, scouts and the community at large for coming out to our parks to support our youth and baseball. Congratulations to the respective teams for their successful application to host championships in their division. The Abbotsford Cardinals will host the junior premier championship at Delair Park on July 24-25-26 and the premier championships will be coordinated at McLeod Park July 31-August 1-2 by the Langley Blaze. It should be noted that the championships for both premier and junior premier will be Final 4 events. For additional information about the play-down format and championship guidelines go to the league info link. For the third and final year the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs from Lethbridge will host the college championships May 14-15-16. A three year commitment from Spitz to sponsor this championship in Lethbridge has made this event possible. In summary, additional information about our league can be located at www.bcpbl.com where stats, rosters, news, schedules, rules, scores, and other topics of interest are posted. Our website is a very busy place with approximately 6.8 million hits recorded to date. The work of our webmaster, Nick DeKoning, is greatly appreciated and valued. Best of luck to all teams for a very successful and enjoyable season! Also, a big thank you to our coaches and volunteers who spend an enormous amount of time helping our youth become responsible citizens and better baseball players. We applaud your efforts.
